Message Of Secretary
A more efficient service towards consumers…
I commend the Ayurvedic Pharmaceuticals Corporation – which had pioneered the provision of quality indigenous medicine to thousands of people – for taking the steps to upgrade their website in order to provide a more efficient service to its customers
.
With the establishment of the State Ministry for the promotion of Indigenous Medicine, Rural and Ayurvedic Hospital Development and Community Health by His Excellency the President, who fully understands the main purpose of Indigenous Medicine, it is now considered to be of national value. The responsibilities of this state ministry was handed over to Attorney-at-law Minister Sisira Jayakody with 8 Special Priorities by Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2187/27 dated 09th August 2020. Thus, in order to fulfill that responsibility and to carry out the special functions mentioned in the government policy document Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour, the role of the Ministry under the guidance of the Minister is to carry out the activities of the relevant departments and corporations with 38 main roles and 186 activities of “Suvadarini Future Prospects”.
The availability of high quality Ayurvedic medicines to the people at reasonable prices will greatly contribute to the promotion of Indigenous medicine and will make it easier for doctors in the field to provide their services. At the same time, citizens who access their healthcare facilities will have the opportunity to obtain local medicines in a reliable manner. The contribution of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation through the local production of medicines is immense in order to save the foreign exchange spent on the importation of manufactured medicines locally.
The International Ayurvedic Sector which is expected to be implemented by the Ayurvedic Medicines Corporation will pave the way for a new revival in the indigenous medical system. At the same time, I greatly appreciate the efforts made by a government institution to communicate to the public about the functions performed and the services provided to the people, and I hope that it will become a more nourishing and robust medium of communication.
Kumari Weerasekera
Secretary,
State Ministry of Indigenous Medicine Promotion,
